We look at things differently; striving for resonance with our customers and carriers. By applying imagination, innovation and by consistently going the extra mile – you will come to regard us as your dynamic partner with a performance that differentiates us from all other haulage companies and ultimately sets a new standard by which the European Road Freight industry should be judged.

Environment

One of the major problems facing the northern hemisphere is waste. Whether industrial, agricultural, governmental, personal; the deteriorating situation is fundamentally threatening our environment at large as natural resources are increasingly ever more scarce, or, more to the point, increasingly more expensive, whilst at the same time, millions of people in the southern hemisphere live in poverty.

It is easy to pontificate or use fashionable and pious expressions, which, in the end, will change very little. So what actions can Efret take against waste? As responsible road hauliers and conscientious members of society we can increase efficient productivity. This structurally eliminates a great deal of waste. It is lean, clean and the essence of scientific advancement.

Here are some of the actions we are already taking or will be actively sponsoring in the near future:

  • Operate mega trailers with 15% more capacity than norm. One lorry in 6 off the road.
  • Champion Government plans to authorise larger trucks. Another lorry in 6 off the road.
  • Reduce empty running by focusing commercial actions on this significant aspect of waste.
  • Lower diesel consumption by operating latest generation engines.
  • Trial new hydrogen-diesel hybrid engines soon to be launched by forward thinking manufacturers.
  •  Use longer sea routes (e.g. Hull <> Zeebrugge or Nantes <> Gijon) instead of overland journeys.
  • Promote electronic invoicing, self billing and payments.
  • Promote electronic KPI's.
  • Lobby customers to accept e-commerce in lieu of physical documentation (e.g. POD's!)

The End is not nigh but we must all vigorously chase waste in the wider sense of the expression. At Efret, we're just beginning our mission to greatly increase efficiency and we will continue to try and positively influence our professional environment.
